TRYING TO PLEASE EVERYBODY IS FOOLISHNESS

SON AND FATHER WITH DONKEY

Ram and his son walk upto a distant market :

Ram, an old man. and his son along with their donkey were walking up to a distant market to sell the donkey.





On the way, they passed a group of women standing near a well. One of them exclaimed, "Look at the fools! At least one of them could ride on the donkey!" 

Ram's son on the donkey :

Hearing this, Ram asked his son to ride the donkey and he did. As they continued on their journey, they passed through a group of old men one of whom sympathised with Ram. "See! The stupid young boy is riding on the donkey while the poor old man is walking!"

Ram ride the donkey :

Ram 'understood' his mistake and asked his son to get down and he himself mounted on the donkey. Soon they passed through a group of women and children. One of them said, " The poor young boy is walking! See his lazy and mature father is riding the donkey!"

Ram and his son both ride the donkey :

Ram was worried. Unable to decide what should be done, he asked his son to mount on the donkey behind him. They continued their journey. The donkey was over-loaded and its legs buckled under their weight. It fell down and was injured.

All along, a group of saints was observing them. One of them said "Both of you will go to hell after death for your cruelty towards the donkey! Now carry this injured animal to a veterinary doctor for treatment!" The donkey on Ram and his son :

Both Ram and his son dismounted from the injured donkey, tied it's legs together and carried it on their shoulders. They happened to pass through a group of playful boys. The entertaining sight excited the boys who started clapping and laughing.

The donkey died and Ram returns home:  

Hearing the noise of clapping and laughter the injured donkey started with pain. He fell to the ground and died. Ram and his son were injured too.    

Ashamed, Ram and his son returned home.

MORAL OF THE STORY

  1. It is impossible to please every body.  
  2. If you try to please everybody, you will land up in problems.

In studies :

  1. While preparing for Exams (except during the final revisions ) 
  2. Do not try to study everything everyday.  
  3. If you try to study everything everyday, you will land up in failure.  
  4. Study one topic everyday and concentrate on it. 4. This rule, however, is not applicable during the revisions done during the few days before the final exams.
